Thompson House
Thompson House
2010
Brownsville resident Jeff Wilhelm and business partner, Robert Kovach, recently purchased the historic Thompson House on Water Street, in old Bridgeport. Soon, Brownsville residents will be able to enjoy both fine and casual dining as the two restaurants housed in the historic mansion will be brought back to life.
The Thompson House will be open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week. Owner and executive chef, Jeff Wilhelm, said that his establishment will operate on set hours. If he has a party of fifty or a table of two, the entire building will remain open for business as per the restaurant’s set hour policy (exact hours TBD). No closing early for the Thompson House.
Twelve years ago Wilhelm said that he was having dinner at (the former) Caliegh’s restaurant when he found out that the same family who built his home on historic Market Street (Northside) also built the Thompson House. Wilhelm always thought about purchasing the Thompson House, and over a decade later, his dream came true.
Two brothers, Tom and Sam Thompson, built the similar properties (Wilhelm’s home and the Thompson House) as their permanent homes in Brownsville, PA. Wilhelm noted that each house contains similar architecture, building materials, and detail. Each property was built was the same parquet floor and pocket doors.
Wilhelm and Kovach anticipate a soft opening for their restaurants on September 9 and plan on hosting a grande opening in October. And, for all of the fans of “wing night”, the Thompson House will be bringing it back on Tuesday evenings. Wilhelm and Kovach will also be hosting private parties, banquets, and corporate events.
The Restaurant and Tavern look stunning, complete with historically accurate renovations of the former home and industry-standard kitchen/dining and bar upgrades. There will be shoppes and stores opening on the upstairs levels of the Thompson House as well.
Wilhelm and Kovach look forward to serving their community.
