Kennywood 2010
Each year, on the first Thursday of August, the Brownsville transplants to Kennywood Park for its annual community picnic. South Browsnville VFC Chief Woody Nicholson reported almost 2,000 tickets sold at local fire stations for this year’s picnic. Farewell Mass: A large congregation gathered at St. Peter’s church on Sunday August 15, as Father Vincent Gigliotti celebrated his last mass as priest of the local parish. “Father Vince” delivered a touching sermon that reflected on his 15 years as leader of our local catholic community. In such time, Gigliotti has been forced to make hard decisions regarding the closure and eventual demolition of both St. Peter’s School and St. Mary’s church. Stay tuned for Father Vince’s last sermon.
School District reaches settlement with D’Amico over Facebook Photo
The local story that sparked a regional debate on privacy, advancement of social media, morals, and unionized workforce reached its conclusion as BAHS spanish teacher Ginger D’Amico, through her ACLU counsel, reached a settlement with the Brownsville Area School Board. The settlement provides for the teacher’s back wages and a sum of $10,000.

In case you haven’t heard, set crews have been prepping various locations along Water Street for filming. For South Brownsville’s sake, the cosmetic, camera-friendly, touchups have been a welcome occurrence -- especially at Fiddle’s Diner, where fresh paint has been applied to the walls and new light fixtures have been mounted on the ceilings.
